Barcelona—here we come—for an Annual Meeting of a lifetime!
With the increasing importance of brands to consumers, companies, and the global economy, the INTA Annual Meeting has become a priority for thousands of brand management, trademark and other IP professionals across the globe. This year, I am delighted to welcome everyone to the 2017 INTA Annual Meeting in Barcelona, Spain. This is our third Annual Meeting in Europe and I am proud that as an Association we continue to further advance one of INTA’s four strategic priorities —international expansion.
The Co-Chairs, Project Team members
, and INTA staff have put together an extensive five-day program
to help you achieve your business, educational and networking goals. Following the success of last year’s Anticounterfeiting Workshop, I am particularly excited that this year an extended version—a one and a half day workshop—titled Strategy + Collaboration: The Key to Success against the Crime of Counterfeiting
exclusively, for in-house practitioners, and government officials will be held on Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20. This workshop is aimed to give in-house teams and government officials an opportunity to benchmark and collaborate with other brand owners, investigators, law enforcement and governmental agencies, leading anticounterfeiting associations, and legal experts to identify best practices to help in the fight against the ever-growing crime of counterfeiting.
We are pleased to see more and more government officials and IP offices participating in the Annual Meeting, and this year’s program features a number of sessions created to facilitate dialogue between attendees, government officials and IP office representatives. This includes an IP Office Workshop on Tuesday, May 23, and various IP Office User Sessions taking place throughout the week. Additionally taking advantage of the meeting location, in Barcelona, this year’s Annual Meeting will feature a customs training session at the port of Barcelona.
I am confident that we will be able to achieve all of our Annual Meeting goals. My heartfelt thanks to the Co-Chairs, Project Team members and INTA staff for all of their hard work to make the 2017 INTA Annual Meeting a success.
Lastly, I would like to personally invite you to join me at the Opening Ceremony and Keynote Address on Sunday, May 21, 4:00 pm–5:30 pm, followed by the Welcome Reception in the Fira Gran Via from 5:30 pm–7:30 pm. I look forward to sharing with you my vision for 2017 and how INTA initiatives can benefit you and your organization.
Safe travels to Barcelona!
2017 INTA President
