The Future Is Now: State of the Art Practices and Management in IP

Handling corporate politics, managing upwards, proving your value, and budget management. All easier said than done? This session will provide you, as leaders, with best practices on how to run your department, work with your executive team, and enhance relations with outside counsel. These thought leaders will tackle questions like:
  • What’s the best way to my build team?

  • How do I prove my department’s value and develop metrics that don’t currently exist?

  • What should I outsource and what should be done in-house—and how does that equation change for small teams or teams with a solo practitioner?

  • How can I be more cost effective?

  • How can non-attorney trademark practitioners grow and develop their careers?

You will leave this session with new insights and actionable ideas to approach and guide your management team, executive leaders, outside counsel, and direct reports.

The Technologies of the Future and Their Impact on IP

We live in an age where customer experience drives innovation and technology. We are becoming more dependent on artificial intelligence to complete daily tasks, revolutionizing our day to day personally and professionally. But let’s dive deeper and find the answers to the following:

  • As both a consumer and an in-house practitioner, what will the future be like for you?

  • How do you conduct searches and prosecute applications for technology so new you (or trademark offices) may not fully understand it?

  • Will your future IP  office examiner be a robot?

  • How are your brand and marketing teams creating targeted storytelling to keep up with the new age consumer?

  • What new trademark-oriented technology is available today to make your job easier, and what kind of experiences have your peers had with it?
This session will look at the future of the IP office, innovative filing strategies, methods for keeping new names and technology confidential, new trademark technology, and how today’s brands are tapping into targeted experiences to further customer loyalty.
