Social media is so popular that it has become the top online activity for internet users. Similarly, brand owners have increased exponentially their presence on and policing of social media platforms. Speakers will discuss the legal context of trademark infringement and secondary liability on social media platforms and provide strategies and tips on how to effectively address trademark infringement. Speakers will also highlight how platforms assess their response to take-down requests as well as discuss issues related to improper take down. Attendees will learn how to access several charts that provide easy links to and quick summaries of take-down procedures for prominent social media sites created by the 2010-2013 Web 2.0 working groups of the Online Use Subcommittee of INTA’s Internet Committee. A Q&A portion of the program will allow participants to ask questions and share their experiences.
