After a successful INTA delegation to Latin America in August, INTA will be visiting Argentina again at the end of September. INTA’s Anticounterfeiting Advisor, Maysa Razavi, will be attending the 9th International Law Enforcement Intellectual Property Crime Conference at the Sheraton Buenos Aires Hotel & Convention Center from September 21 through 24, 2015. This year’s event will be co-hosted by the Ministry of Security in Argentina.
The yearly conference hosted by INTERPOL in partnership with INTA member Underwriters Laboratories (UL) brings together anticounterfeiting enforcement officials from over 80 countries. The purpose of the conference is to share and develop best practices for combatting counterfeiting and piracy crimes. The program also includes specialized IP crime training sessions, including training conducted by the International IP Crime College, on whose Advisory Board INTA serves.
The event is open to all anticounterfeiting practitioners, so INTA encourages its members involved in anticounterfeiting to attend. For more information on the INTERPOL Conference, please visit the website of the International IP Crime Investigators College.
After the event, INTA will be hosting a roundtable with the local intellectual property association, AAAPI (Asociación Argentina de Agentes de Propiedad Industrial), on September 25. This roundtable will focus on the topic of online counterfeiting and will gather all relevant stakeholders, including government officials, brand owners and Internet Services Providers to explore solutions together. Welcoming remarks for the event will be given by AAAPI President Carolina Fernández (Hausheer Belgrano & Fernandez) and INTA Board Member Gustavo Giay (Marval O´Farrell Mairal).
The Anticounterfeiting Committee members are hosting the event, and INTA Member Rocío Martínez Houssay from Mercado Libre will participate in the panel discussion. The Association is pleased to have this first joint initiative with AAAPI this September.
