The Center for Responsible Enterprise And Trade (CREATe)
Lucy Nichols is Intellectual Property Counsel for The Center for Responsible Enterprise And Trade (CREATe).
CREATe is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping companies, particularly in emerging markets, reduce anti-corruption and IP theft in the forms of counterfeiting, piracy and trade secret theft. CREATe also works with multi-national companies, their suppliers and business partners around the world to measure and improve their respective systems for IP protection and anti-corruption. To achieve its objectives, CREATe has developed CREATe Leading Practices for IP Protection and CREATe Leading Practices for Anti-Corruption, two programs based on best practices drawn from companies, academics, and other leading organizations.
Prior to joining CREATe, Lucy spent more than ten years at Nokia Corporation as Director of Legal & Intellectual Property Rights where she had global responsibility for the company’s trademark, domain names and design rights portfolios as well as for anti-counterfeiting and brand related enforcement and litigation. During her tenure at Nokia, Lucy worked from the company headquarters in Espoo, Finland, Beijing, China and various U.S. regional offices.
Ms. Nichols currently serves as the Group Officer of the Education & Services Group and on the Executive and Finance Board Committees and the Programs Committee. She has served as Secretary, Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee and the Planning Committee. She represented the Intellectual Property Constituency (IPC) on ICANN’s GNSO council and has twice served on ICANN’s Nominating Committee.
