The Madrid Protocol – A new opportunity for Indian Brand Owners to file trademarks abroad / Chennai, India

The Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks provides a means to simultaneously seek protection for a trademark in a large number of countries. It is simple, saves time and is cost-effective. India started accepting Madrid applications on July 8, 2013. Till date, a very limited number of applications originating from India have been filed using this new system. At the same time, India has been designated more than 6000 times by foreign brand owners.
