Session 1: Legal and Business Symbiosis in Developing and Executing a Holistic Brand Protection Strategy
           
Inside and outside counsel will discuss and share insights into building a holistic brand protection strategy, inside India and beyond. Speakers will share their experiences on:
  • Understanding and aligning business and legal goals and roles.
  • Determining the current and desired legal position for the mark at issue.
  • Addressing distributor, partner, and customer agreements.
  • Building an exceptional team, including:
    • How to create an internal cross-disciplinary team with the power to act.
    • The importance of a strong legal network in the relevant (and most problematic) jurisdictions.
  • Budgeting, setting goals, managing results, quantifying efforts, and determining return on investment (ROI).

  • The evolution of brands and changing nuances of trademark concepts and how nontraditional trademarks have come to the forefront.
  • The evolving role that brand promotion, brand creation, and brand monitoring and retailing play in the digital world.
  • Challenges posed by the rapidly changing Internet landscape (issues such as piracy, anonymity of consumers, and trolling) and brand owners’ strategies to combat these challenges to preserve and maintain brand reputation and legacy.
