The Philippines accession to the Madrid Protocol took effect on July 25, 2012. To date, the trademark regulations have not been amended but the Intellectual Property Office (IPOPHL) has indicated that some changes to the regulations shall be made, and shall be circulated for public consultation. 

This roundtable will bring out for discussion “problems” experienced by trademark owners and practitioners on current examination rules/practices, and possibly generate ideas or reactions to the proposed changes, if any, in the light of the accession.
