Volunteer Opportunities

Contribute to the largest network of trademark professionals and help shape the future of INTA!

So you've joined INTA. Now it's time to get involved and here's how!

When your organization becomes an INTA member, you and your colleagues have a unique volunteer opportunity to make an outstanding contribution to the future of trademark law and practice. Volunteer activities include serving on a committee, hosting a roundtable, helping plan a meeting, speaking at an event, writing articles for publications and more.

Each year at the Leadership Meeting, INTA recognizes its talented volunteers and their contributions with the
President’s Award, which recognizes individuals who over the course of their career have made outstanding contributions to INTA and to the trademark profession.

INTA also presents a Volunteer Service Award to individuals who provide exemplary service to INTA during a specific year. Two Pro Bono Volunteer Service Awards also will be given:

1. The INTA Volunteer Service Award for Pro Bono Legal Services to an Individual
Awarded to one or more individuals who have shown a significant commitment to providing trademark and related intellectual property pro bono legal services in support of (a) persons of limited means or other disadvantaged persons; (b) charitable, religious, civic, community and educational organizations that address the needs of persons of limited means or disadvantaged persons; or (c) government or judicial organizations.

2. The INTA Volunteer Service Award for Pro Bono Legal Services to a Member Organization
Awarded to one or more member organizations that have demonstrated a significant development or expansion of programs for providing trademark and related Intellectual Property pro bono services during the previous year.

Serve on a committee
The next opportunity to apply for INTA committees is June 3–28, 2013 for the 2014-2015 Committee Term.  The application portal will be posted on the INTA homepage. New applicants are encouraged to apply.  Current committee members must reapply for the 2014-2015 Committee Term to remain on their current committee or to serve a new committee. Late requests for applications will not be considered.

INTA's committee selection process occurs once every two years and is open to employees of INTA's member organizations. A committee term is two years.

INTA's committees help advance the Association's objectives, allowing committee volunteers to raise their visibility within the international trademark community. More than 2,700 volunteers, together with a dedicated professional staff, share their collective expertise, common interests and visions through more than 25 different committees.

Not currently on a committee but want to get involved? INTA has other volunteer opportunities including planning meetings, speaking at events and contributing to our publications. If you have any questions, please contact committeeselection@inta.org.
