Course on International Trademark Law

The John Marshall Law School in conjunction the International Trademark Association (INTA) is offering a course for academic credit to J.D. and LL.M students on International Trademark Law during INTA’s 126th Annual Meeting being held from May 1 – 5, 2004, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

The course, which will take place in the Marriott Marquis, Bonn Room on Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day, is designed to foster interest in the practice of trademark law for students considering this potential career path. The faculty comprises professors and practitioners of trademark law from various jurisdictions around the world who will follow the syllabus currently used in the LL.M. program at John Marshall for the introductory course in International Trademark Law.

Non-U.S. students seeking the equivalent of an LL.M. in Intellectual Property at universities and law schools in other countries around the world, including lawyers who will be attending the INTA Annual Meeting, are also encouraged to attend.

The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, USA will provide one law school credit hour to students who participate and receive a passing grade in the course. As you can see from the attached syllabus, the course, while concentrated into two days, is academically rigorous and will be carefully administered. The fee for the course is US $500 plus a one-time visiting student fee of US $50.

When you register for the academic course, you will also receive a complimentary pass to attend the educational sessions and networking events held at the INTA Annual Meeting at no charge as well as online access to all educational program materials distributed to attendees. The course takes place during the day, and presents a comparative analysis of trademark laws and various international and regional treaties by scholars from around the world. The receptions will be held in the evening and offer students the opportunity to network with nearly 7,000 trademark professionals from around the world.
