Each year the Learned Professors Trademark Symposium is held at the same time as the annual meeting of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) as a means to further extend INTA’s efforts to attract professor and student members to the organization. To that end, the speakers each year are all academics with a specific focus on IP.


About the 2008 Symposium

The topic for the 2008 Symposium will be “An Interdisciplinary Perspective on the Likelihood of Confusion.” Moderating the proceedings will be David C. Berry, Professor of Law and Assistant Director, Graduate Program in Intellectual Property Law at Thomas M. Cooley Law School – Rochester, MI. Featured speakers include:

  • Jacob Jacoby, Merchant’s Council Professor of Consumer Behavior and Retail Management at New York University’s Leonard N. Stern Graduate School of Business, New York, New York
  • Thomas R. Lee, Professor of Law at Brigham Young University, Provo, UT
  • Ng-Loy Wee Loon, Association Professor and Director of the LLM program at the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law

About the 2007 Symposium

The topic of the 2007 Symposium was “An International Perspective on Trademarks and the Internet.” Moderating the proceedings was Allyn Taylor, a partner at DLA Piper US LLP. Speakers were:

  • Glynn S. Lunney, Jr., McGlinchey Stafford Professor of Law at Tulane University Law School, New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Margreth Barrett, Professor of Law at University of California Hastings College of the Law, San Francisco, California
  • Pablo Ruiz-Tagle, Professor of Law at School of the Universidad de Chile, Santiago, Chile
