¡Bienvenidos a la ciudad de Panamá!
And of course welcome to our first INTA Leadership Meeting outside of the United States. I am thrilled that over 1,000 committee leaders and volunteers will be at this Meeting. Panama City is a perfect location for this milestone Meeting—with the imminent completion of the Panama Canal expansion project, we could not have picked a better City to convene the global trademark industry’s most active and influential community.
We have an exciting schedule planned this year. The Opening Ceremony takes place on Tuesday, November 17, at 4:30 pm and features the State of the Association Address from INTA CEO Etienne Sanz de Acedo and the presentation of the President’s Award and Volunteer Service Awards. We are also fortunate to be able to hear from both Alvaro Aleman, Ministry of the Presidency and Jorge Luis Quijano, Administrator of the Panama Canal Authority during the Opening Ceremony.
In addition to various educational sessions and committee meetings, we will feature a training session on Leadership Enhancement and Development on Thursday, November 19, from 10:15 am to 11:30 am. The session will be led by Gary Stempel, former Head Coach and Manager of the Panamanian national football team, and current Head Coach and Manager of San Francisco FC. This will be followed by a committee management workshop specifically for Chairs, Vice-Chairs, Sub-Committee Chairs and INTA staff. Mei-lan, Ronald and I look forward to sharing with you our thoughts on leadership during times of change and organizational growth.
As a seasoned veteran of the Leadership Meeting, I have always enjoyed this event. It gives our Association leaders time to reconnect in-person, celebrate their accomplishments over the previous year and determine their goals for the upcoming committee term. Throughout the week, there will be a booth in the center lobby for everyone to renew their INTA Membership for 2016. We hope you take advantage of this opportunity.
Enjoy the meeting! And be sure to join the conversation on social media with the official meeting hashtag #INTALM.
