ALGERIA: Algeria Joins the Madrid Protocol

On July 31, 2015, the government of the Peo-ple’s Democratic Republic of Algeria deposited its instrument of accession to the Madrid Protocol with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), making it the 95th mem-ber of the Protocol.

With this development, all members that are party to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks are now also party to the Protocol. The Madrid Protocol will enter into force in Algeria on October 31, 2015.

The Madrid Protocol allows trademark owners the opportunity to have a mark protected in several countries by filing one application with a single office, in one language.
