BRAZIL: Two New Geographical Indications

On January 17, 2012, the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (INPI) approved geographical indications of origin (GIs) for opal stones and jewelry that uses opal which originates from the city of Pedro II in the state of Piauí.
Also, in December 2011, the INPI approved GIs for Canastra cheese from the state of Minas Gerais and Franca shoes from the city of Franca in the state of São Paulo.
