NIGERIA: Registry Splits into Two Separate Units
The Nigerian Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation in Abuja, Nigeria, notified the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment on October 22, 2018, of its decision to approve the reorganization of the Commercial Law Department.
Under the reorganization, the Nigerian Registry is split into two separate registries, in line with the Trade Marks Act Chapter 436 LFN of Nigeria 1990 and the Patents and Designs Act 344 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1990.
The separate registries are the Trade Marks Registry and the Patents and Designs Registry, with both headed by independent registrars and officers.
Although every effort has been made to verify the accuracy of items in the INTA Bulletin, readers are urged to check independently on matters of specific concern or interest.
