Zimbabwe Joins Madrid System

Zimbabwe became the 94th member of the Madrid Protocol for the International Registration of Marks on December 11, 2014, when it deposited its instrument of accession to WIPO Director General Francis Gurry.

Taonga Mushayavanhu, Ambassador of Zimbabwe to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, delivered the instrument to Mr. Gurry. The Protocol will enter into force on March 11, 2015.

The Madrid System allows brand owners to protect their products through one international application covering more than 100 countries.
