Practical Tips to Improve Your TM Rights Enforcement Online in Turkey (Turkish)

October 06, 2021

October 6, 2021 | 3:00 pm (GMT +03:00)

Our habits have changed dramatically due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We shop, conduct business, entertain ourselves, and even work out with the benefit of online platforms. These shifts in consumer behavior have spawned new business models, led businesses and brands to build new online capabilities, and resulted in a significant increase in legal disputes.

While in theory Turkish law offers protection against online trademark infringement, it’s difficult to obtain quick and effective resolution given the speed and global reach of the Internet. Current Turkish court decisions also do not offer sufficient means to effectively and rapidly stop pervasive infringement on the Internet. Accordingly, even though practitioners try to develop creative ideas to combat these problems, they’re limited by inflexible laws resulting from narrow judicial interpretations and slow-moving bureaucracy.

Based on this fundamental problem, roundtable participants will be able to share their experiences and discuss what types of changes can effectively help fight trademark infringement.

This roundtable is kindly hosted by Moroğlu Arseven Law Firm.
