Position Description
The Senior Paralegal will provide administrative and legal support to the Intellectual Property Department responsible for the Americas region, including conducting investigations, maintaining trademark records and deadlines, and communicating with outside counsel, Red Bull employees, and third parties (e.g., translation agencies, infringers, etc.).
Qualifications
5+ years of IP paralegal experience. Background in Latin America is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel and Adobe Acrobat required. Database and electronic filing experience preferred. Excellent organizational, problem-solving and multitasking skills with fine attention to detail and sharp analytical skillsAbility to work efficiently and manage a high volume of work. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Team player. Self-starter. Ability to keep sensitive IP Legal Department matters confidential. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draft, modify, and send letters, emails and other documents (e.g., Trademark Release Forms) to local counsel, Red Bull employees and other third parties.
- Interact regularly with local counsel and Red Bull employees in the Americas regarding various IP matters.
- Help create PowerPoint presentations for IP Team.
- Maintain and update specialized Trademark Database (Diams) in connection with the tasks and deadlines pertaining to opposition/cancellation proceedings, agreements, counterfeits, litigations, unfair competition, and other IP matters.
- Responsible for collecting and sending evidence, including the preparation and drafting of Affidavits, to local council to be used in IP Proceedings.
- Review settlement, undertaking, and co-existence agreements pertaining to IP proceedings to prepare signature request documents and update co-existence obligation lists.
- Conduct web-based and other research investigations into third parties, problematic third-party marks or infringing uses of IP, as well as purchase samples for investigation purposes.
- Review and investigate Americas Watch Notices and propose possible legal action to attorneys, if any.
- Review decisions received in IP proceedings and update the internal well-known decision list.
- Manage requests received from Consumer Affairs pertaining to IP matters.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating Attorney’s calendar and meetings.
- Coordinate domestic and international travel for attorneys and submit expense reports.
- Create reports of IP matters from the Trademark Database.
- Assist in the electronic filing of emails and documents.
- Coordinate domestic and international travel for attorneys and helped organize INTA conference.
- Review invoices for accuracy.
- Prepare and submit expense reports.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining Attorney’s calendar.
- Prepare and send packages, as well as distribute incoming mail to America’s IP Team.
