Trademark Litigator

Position Description

Michael Best has an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 8+ years of trademark and copyright litigation experience in any of its US offices. Michael Best’s Intellectual Property Group is the largest practice area in our collegial, general practice firm and our attorneys have the privilege of representing top brands and valuable intellectual property portfolios across a wide variety of industries. The ideal candidate will have significant first chair federal court trademark and copyright litigation experience and be well versed in handling matters before the TTAB. Experience with management of IP portfolios and prosecution will be well received. A minimal portable book of business is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

Knowledge Base & Education:

• At least 8 years’ litigation experience
• Significant first chair federal court trademark and copyright litigation and TTAB experience.
• Experience negotiating settlement and coexistence agreements, preparing and responding to cease-and-desist letters, handling domain name disputes including UDRP actions.
• Experience with internet enforcement, including filing and addressing e-commerce and social media infringement complaints and copyright takedown notices.
• Excellent legal research, writing and analysis skills
• J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
• Excellent academic credentials

• Ability and confidence to identify and analyze issues, make decisions, and initiate actions/solutions
• Ability to respond to unexpected challenges, including proactively developing innovative solutions to complex problems while maintaining a professional demeanor

Professionalism:

• Ability to maintain composure and demonstrate good judgment
• Valid authorization to work in the U.S.

For Colorado applicants only (as required by the Colorado Equal Pay Act): The starting salary for associate positions in our Denver office is $190,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Associates are eligible to participate in Michael Best’s associate bonus program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.  This position is considered full-time and is therefore eligible to participate in employer-sponsored benefits, including: medical, dental, vision, as well as elective/voluntary life, disability, and accident coverage. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the firm’s 401k plan.
