Position Description
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Domestic and international trademark prosecution and maintenance including via WIPO
- Coordinate and help manage foreign oppositions, including collection of evidence
- Review and engage in correspondence with foreign associates and clients
- Prepare and file trademark applications, office action responses, extension requests, statements of use, declarations of use and incontestability, renewal applications and other maintenance documents with the US PTO
- Review watch notices for potential action, draft reporting emails to client and correspondence as needed to applicants, opposing counsel and foreign associates
- Prepare reporting correspondence, status reports, response templates, and other correspondence and documents
- Assist in preparation and filing of UDRP and TTAB actions
- Legalization of documents, coordinating with vendor and foreign associates regarding same
- Monitoring the status of third party domestic and foreign applications
- Proofing docketed information, check statuses, and deadlines for accuracy
- Assist the supervising attorneys to ensure that all docket dates and all related trademark deadlines are met
- Assist with registration, maintenance and transfer of domain names
- Assist with recording trademarks with Customs and Border Protection
- Prepare and record assignment documentation
- Review attorney dockets and keep Docketing advised as to any updates/changes
- Organize and maintain electronic files in a timely manner
- Experience with filing US Copyright applications, responding to office actions, recording assignments, pulling official documentation from the Office and assisting with any conflicts involving Copyright registrations a plus
- Experience with IP litigation, including organizing and managing litigation documents including discovery, motions, pre-trial documents, and exhibits; filing documents electronically using CM/ECF; keeping litigation files organized in a document management system a plus.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency in Corsearch or other trademark search software
- Ability to quickly learn the organization’s systems and databases
- Proficiency in Internet searching
A four-year college degree or paralegal certificate required.
