Published: January 15, 2020

Ayala Deutsch began her term as 2020 INTA President on January 1, following more than 20 years of volunteer experience with the Association. She sees this as an important year for INTA and the global trademark and intellectual property (IP) community.

“There’s new and exciting thinking to be done on what IP is going to be in the future and I think this is an organization that over the last few years has really lived the concept of embracing change and innovation, and that makes it really exciting to the President this year,” said Ms. Deutsch in a recent interview.

Among her priorities for the year ahead, Ms. Deutsch has convened a Presidential Task Force that will explore how to develop all-star IP practitioners. “As brand owners and trademark professionals, we must constantly innovate and evolve with the times to grow professionally and personally and to effect meaningful change in our field and in the world,” she said.

In addition to serving as INTA’s President, Ms. Deutsch, who is currently Executive Vice President & Deputy General Counsel at NBA Properties, Inc., in New York, New York, USA, is President and Chair of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. She returned to the Board in 2015, after previously serving on the Board from 2002 through 2005, as well as volunteering on numerous committees, councils, and project teams for more than two decades.

A more in-depth interview with Ms. Deutsch will be published in an upcoming issue of the INTA Bulletin.
