ATTENTION J.D. AND LL.M. STUDENTS
Academic Course on International Trademark Law and Practice
The Fairmont Royal York, Salon B, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
May 6 – 7, 2006
This course is designed to give an overview / survey of trademarks and trademark law and practice in countries around the world other than the United States. There will also be some attention given to various international treaties, conventions and agreements. The focus will vary from historical, philosophical, legal, and even practical “how tos” depending on the topic.
Who Should Attend?
Students seeking the equivalent of an LL.M. in Intellectual Property at universities and law schools in other countries worldwide. Lawyers attending the INTA Annual Meeting, are also encouraged to attend.
Why Attend?
- U.S. Law Students: receive one unit of credit from The John Marshall Law School for Intellectual Property. (Student must complete course and receive a passing grade.)
- Canadian Law Students: receive a Certificate of Completion from the Faculty of Law and Division of Continuing Studies, The University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. (Student must complete course and receive a passing grade.)
- Free registration for INTA’s 128th Annual Meeting, including educational sessions and networking receptions, both offering an invaluable opportunity to network with more than 7,000 internationally-based trademark professionals.
Note: While course attendance is open to anyone, only current law students are entitled to free Annual Meeting registration.

Considerations for Careers in Trademark Law: A Panel Discussion for Law
Students
An informal, free program for students attending the Academic Course or Annual
Meeting
Students will receive invaluable advice on various trademark law hiring practices and associate life from United States and Canadian attorneys currently practicing in prestigious law firms and corporations. Questions will be answered by practitioners from Smart & Biggar/Fetherstonhaugh, Nike, Inc., Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP, Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP and more.
