PRESIDENT’S LETTER

As President of the International Trademark Association for 2009, I cordially invite you to our Association’s 2009 Annual Meeting in the picturesque city of Seattle, Washington, USA.

We believe Seattle will be an extraordinary venue to host our Annual Meeting because the city and region showcase some of the most beautiful scenic and city landscapes anywhere in the United States. Seattle has been host to a number of our previous Annual Meetings. All have been resoundingly successful and in many ways, it is the perfect venue for our premier event of the year. This year’s meeting will be no exception, and we are making every effort to make the Annual Meeting in this wonderful city our best ever.

Also, Seattle’s commitment to protecting the earth mirrors INTA’s dedication to limiting its carbon footprint wherever it goes. We are proud to host our “greenest” meeting yet in the American Pacific Northwest, and we are excited to showcase INTA’s promise to protect the environment.

Not only is it a great venue for convention networking and business meetings, Seattle offers a breathtaking waterfront with shopping and restaurants, an aquarium and zoo, parks, vineyards and countless outdoor activities sure to please even the most adventurous outdoors person when we do get some time to relax.

To begin the week’s fast-paced schedule, the Annual Meeting will kickoff with the INTA Gala on Saturday, May 16, at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers.

This year, we are extremely excited and honored to welcome Elle Macpherson as our Opening Ceremonies Keynote Speaker. Elle Macpherson is a globally recognized supermodel, actress, businesswoman and brand owner, and she will offer a unique insight into her experiences as an entrepreneur and worldwide brand.

Following our opening celebrations on Sunday, the program will begin on Monday, May 18, with sessions covering the most important trademark issues in our field today. Along with engaging sessions, we will offer topic-specific workshops, table topic discussions and the renowned Exhibition Hall.

To complement our professional development agenda, there will also be numerous opportunities for socializing, networking and catching up with friends. Some of our most exciting events include the Welcome Reception on May 17 in the convention center and the Grand Finale on May 20 at the historical Museum of Flight.

This year’s Annual Meeting Exhibition Hall will feature the INTA Booth and the popular Anticounterfeiting Exhibit. The Hall will be filled with more than 80 exhibitors offering demonstrations and information on their latest products and services.

I know Seattle will be a terrific location for this year’s Annual Meeting. I encourage everyone to bring their love of nature to this region in the woods, the waters and islands in the Puget Sound, and the Cascade mountains of the Pacific Northwest. While you are there, be sure to make time for sightseeing, shopping, walking about, and, of course, visiting wonderful restaurants with waterfront views.

I hope to see you there!
