Juan Carlos Ojam,
Ojam Bullrich Flanzbaum (Argentina)

An INTA member since 1995, Juan Carlos Ojam, partner, Ojam Bullrich Flanzbaum (Buenos Aires, Argentina), has made volunteering with the Association an integral part of his work.

A current member of the Geographical Indications Committee, he has contributed to the Geographical Indications Guide (an INTA Practice Guide) and previously served on the Public Relations Committee.

In an interview with the INTA Bulletin, Mr. Ojam explains how he maximizes his membership.

How has being an INTA member helped you in your professional career?
Since the beginning of my career, being a member of INTA has helped me understand how the world of intellectual property (IP) works, and to feel like I’m a part of it. I attended my first Annual Meeting in 1995. Since then, I have met admirable colleagues, great friends, and loyal customers from all over the world. INTA manages to generate an ideal context to meet potential clients and generate long-term relationships. At each stage of my professional life, INTA was there and was a fundamental part of my growth.

At Ojam Bullrich Flanzbaum, we are committed to the growth of new generations. Our young practitioners are already part of the Association and learn every day from its initiatives and its members.

Apart from attending the Annual Meeting, how does Ojam Bullrich Flanzbaum maximize its membership throughout the year?
We actively participate in INTA throughout the year. All partners volunteer on different committees, moderate Table Topics, and take part in articles and interviews. We also organized an event for young professionals in our office in 2019. We not only learn and contribute knowledge and experiences, but also keep up and strengthen our relationships with colleagues and clients from all over the world.

Our team actively participates in all Association initiatives, which we find enriching and which help us constantly evolve. The more you participate in INTA and its many and varied activities, the more benefit you can get out of INTA and all its potentialities.

Can you share an example of a challenge IP professionals and brand owners are facing, and how INTA is helping address that challenge?
2020 was a great challenge. INTA faced it and surpassed the challenge, allowing IP professionals and brand owners to stay connected worldwide despite the difficulties faced by all countries around the world. This Association was there, present, active, flexible, and willing to adapt to the new reality. Both IP professionals and brand owners have felt accompanied by INTA and its network in one of the most challenging years, professionally and personally speaking.

At Ojam Bullrich Flanzbaum, we continue to grow in this very particular context. And we know that this is thanks to the great friendships and historical clients generated over the years at INTA.

In sum, why should brand owners and IP law firms join the Association?
Being a member of INTA is essential for any IP professional and brand owner who really wants to be part of the IP world, understand the business, stay updated, and be at the forefront of events in our specialty.

Being part of INTA is a must. It brings you closer to your colleagues and helps advance the growth of each law firm and agency. INTA allows brand owners to know in-depth who takes care of their intangible assets and also enables them to have a macro perspective of the business and the players involved in each market and region, which facilitates efficient decision-making.
