India Attorney Receives International Trademark Association Membership Champion Award

New York, New York, November 20, 2019—The International Trademark Association (INTA) is proud to announce M.S. Bharath, Senior Partner at Anand and Anand Advocates, Chennai, India, as a recipient of the Association’s 2019 Service Award for INTA Membership Champion.
This award is a new honor, given to one or more individuals who help grow INTA membership, increase awareness of INTA, and promote member benefits, demonstrating their combined passion for trademark and related intellectual property law and their commitment to INTA through exceptional efforts.
In the past few years, Mr. Bharath has been providing invaluable support to raise awareness of INTA in India and to scale up the Association’s policy, membership, and education initiatives in the country. These efforts have included overseeing the planning and implementation of an INTA roundtable in Bangalore hosted by his firm, meeting with prospective members to explain the benefits of joining INTA, and promoting the 2019 INTA India Workshop to potential attendees.
“Mr. Bharath epitomizes the definition of a member champion, always pushing forward to promote the benefits of belonging to INTA and the Association’s initiatives and accomplishments in India and elsewhere. His notable commitment to advancing INTA’s visibility has helped us tremendously in growing our presence in the region,” said INTA President David Lossignol.
In accepting the award, Mr. Bharath said, “Having been involved with INTA since 2005, I’m delighted to see the Association’s focus in India recently. This award affirms the importance of India as a market and acts as an appreciation for the great work INTA and its members have been carrying out in the country recently.”
Mr. Bharath has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Madras and an LL.B., Law from Pune University.
INTA presented Mr. Bharath with the 2019 Service Award for INTA Membership Champion on November 19 during the Association’s 2019 Leadership Meeting in Austin, Texas. The Association also presented the award to Mohamed Eldib, Partner, Eldib & Co, Cairo, Egypt, and Matias Somarriva, Partner, CMS, Santiago, Chile.
