INTA Celebrates World IP Day with the USPTO - International Trademark Association

INTA collaborated with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the IP community to celebrate World IP Day in the United States through the development of a digital poster with a video compilation focused on WIPO’s theme for 2020, “Innovate for a Green Future.” INTA’s video featured INTA President-Elect Tiki Dare (Oracle, USA), who focused on sustainability and innovation.

In her video, Ms. Dare stated, “Sustainability matters to Oracle. We are committed to building a resilient future for our planet, for humanity and for future generations.” Further, the USPTO Director, Andrei Iancu, discussed IP’s integral role in helping to solve challenging issues in addition to videos from the IP stakeholder community about global technologies. Mr. Iancu noted, “Innovation deserves celebration as it empowers, it improves, it inspires, and it will ultimately lead us out of the current crisis we are facing and beyond. And it is intellectual property that incentivizes and protects that innovation.”

The video compilation and digital poster included “inventors who are using intellectual property to improve our lives,” according to Mr. Iancu. It was shared with stakeholders throughout the United States including Members of Congress and their staff, key Administration officials, business leaders, the academic community and on social media.
