INTA Sets Up Mechanism to Alert Ukrainian Refugees of Job Openings

In response to the Ukraine-Russia crisis, INTA has called on its European member organizations to collaborate with INTA in publicizing job opportunities that may be appropriate for professionals who are among the millions of refugees who have fled Ukraine in recent weeks.

In its humanitarian call to action, the Association asked the member law firms to inform INTA of any job vacancies for intellectual property lawyers or paralegals, or any other positions that may be appropriate for Ukrainian refugees. The Association will feature the positions in a special section of its online Job Bank as well as directly alert its Ukrainian members of each opening.

INTA sent its request to nearly 700 member organizations in 11 countries which have witnessed a large influx of Ukrainian refugees: the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

“As we continue from afar to watch the crisis unfold in Ukraine, our thoughts are with all Ukrainians, including the millions who have fled their homeland and relocated to safer ground since the conflict began. We know that some of our Ukrainian members are among them, struggling with starting over and an unknown future for themselves and their families,” INTA CEO Etienne Sanz de Acedo wrote in the letter.

Noting that “new beginnings usually include a new job,” he said, “As a community, INTA would like to stand together and help. We are reaching out to you as a member in a European country that has witnessed a large influx of Ukrainian refugees, in the hope that we can join together and add to the assistance efforts that your company may already have underway.”

Members can utilize INTA’s Job Bank submission form or email to inform them that the job posting is for this campaign. There is no cost for members to submit job posts.

Once INTA receives the job listing, it will notify Ukrainian members of the opening. The vetting and hiring process is up to the company and the applicant.

“Our role is to simply provide an optimal path to alert Ukrainian refugees of job openings in the field,” Mr. Sanz de Acedo said.

Simultaneously, Mr. Sanz de Acedo reminded members that INTA has initiated a Ukrainian Refugee Relief fund to support the humanitarian needs of Ukrainian refugees. It has been distributing the voluntary contributions to two nonprofit organizations directly helping those in dire need: UNICEF-Ukraine, providing Ukraine’s children with access to safe water, nutrition, health care, education, and protection; and World Central Kitchen, serving thousands of fresh meals to Ukrainian families fleeing home as well as those remaining in the country. Members can donate by logging in to their INTA profile.
