International Trademark Association Presents Bangkok Attorney with 2019 Tomorrow’s Leader Award

Published: November 20, 2019

New York, New York, November 20, 2019—The International Trademark Association (INTA) is pleased to announce Sher Hann Chua, Consultant, Tilleke & Gibbins, Bangkok, Thailand, as a recipient of the Association’s 2019 Tomorrow’s Leader Award in recognition of her early leadership merits in the intellectual property (IP) industry.

INTA presents the award annually to two outstanding professionals who have been practicing trademark law for five years or less, to inspire the next generation of IP professionals and to help accelerate the development of the recipients within the Association and the global trademark community.

Ms. Chua’s practice focuses on IP with clients in a broad range of industries, including automotive, energy, food and beverage, and media and entertainment. She has appeared on behalf of brand owners before trademark registrars and government bodies in negotiations, enforcement actions, and regulatory affairs.

She has completed pro bono work for artists and non-governmental organizations and is a regular contributor to INTA’s Unreal Campaign, which teaches young consumers about the dangers of counterfeits and the value of trademarks and brands. As part of a corporate social responsibility initiative by Tilleke & Gibbins, she regularly volunteers as a speaker and guide at the Museum of Counterfeit Goods in Bangkok.

“INTA is proud to present Ms. Chua with the Tomorrow’s Leader Award. Despite her relatively new emergence in the IP field, Ms. Chua has quickly proven herself as a knowledgeable and passionate attorney who is dedicated to pro bono work. We look forward to watching her next steps,” said INTA President David Lossignol.

As an award winner, Ms. Chua has the opportunity to serve on an INTA committee and to obtain an INTA mentor. She received complimentary registration to the Association’s 2019 Leadership Meeting and will receive complimentary registration to its 2020 Annual Meeting in Singapore next April.

In accepting the award, Ms. Chua said, “Beyond my personal dedication and commitment to the field of IP law, this recognition is a testament to the outstanding mentors and leaders at Tilleke & Gibbins who have been instrumental in my professional and personal development throughout the beginning years of my career. This award both serves as a foundational milestone to look back on and an exciting opportunity from which to launch forward.”

Ms. Chua received her LLB from the University of Reading, and she holds an LLM in Intellectual Property Law from University College London.

INTA presented Ms. Chua with the Tomorrow’s Leader Award on November 19 at its 2019 Leadership Meeting in Austin, Texas. The second 2019 award recipient is Suzannah Wood, Solicitor, Intellectual Property, King & Wood Mallesons, Melbourne, Australia.
