International Trademark Association Presents Melbourne Attorney with 2019 Tomorrow’s Leader Award

Published: November 20, 2019

New York, New York, November 20, 2019—The International Trademark Association (INTA) is pleased to announce Suzannah Wood, Solicitor, Intellectual Property, King & Wood Mallesons, Melbourne, Australia, as a recipient of the Association’s 2019 Tomorrow’s Leader Award in recognition of her early leadership merits in the intellectual property (IP) industry.
INTA presents the award annually to two outstanding professionals who have been practicing trademark law for five years or less, to inspire the next generation of IP professionals and to help accelerate the development of the recipients within the Association and the global trademark community.

Ms. Wood’s practice revolves around IP law, specializing in trademark prosecution for international brands. She has co-author and research credits on multiple prestigious publications, and has done extensive pro bono work.
“INTA is proud to present Ms. Wood with the Tomorrow’s Leader Award, and we look forward to seeing her build on her impressive experience to date. We trust that she will continue to use her talent and skills to positively impact the rights of brand owners in Australia and worldwide,” said INTA President David Lossignol.

As an award winner, Ms. Wood has the opportunity to serve on an INTA committee and to obtain an INTA mentor. She received complimentary registration to the Association’s 2019 Leadership Meeting and will receive complimentary registration to its 2020 Annual Meeting in Singapore next April.

“In Australia, attendance at an INTA conference is something usually reserved for lawyers at the senior associate level. Until this award, I expected that my first exposure to INTA would have been years away, and I certainly never would have expected to have the opportunity to serve on an INTA committee,” said Ms. Wood. “I am thrilled to have this opportunity to learn from international experts in my field, strengthen my network of overseas associates, and continue to build a career as a trademark specialist.”
Ms. Wood graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Journalism from the Queensland University of Technology. She will complete her Master of Laws in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Melbourne in 2020.

INTA announced the recipients of the Tomorrow’s Leader Award on November 19 at its 2019 Leadership Meeting in Austin, Texas. The second 2019 award recipient is Sher Hann Chua, Consultant, Tilleke & Gibbins, Bangkok, Thailand.
