The successful outcome indicates that INTA members are clearly focused on the power of amplifying the voice of brand owners in Congress, at a critical time when numerous pending bills affect trademarks.

The INTA PAC’s virtual reception on the evening of November 9, featured Representative Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY-8th) and Barry Ziehl from Warner Bros.

The event was hosted by the INTA PAC, represented by Board of Governors Chair Michael Moore (Mattel, Inc., USA), and Jenny McDowell, INTA’s Director of Government Relations, Washington D.C., Representative Office, served as moderator. INTA President Ayala Deutsch (NBA Properties, USA) opened the event and welcomed the guest speakers and attendees.

Serving in Congress since 2013, Representative Jeffries was re-elected last week to serve for another two-year term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus and a member of the House Judiciary Committee, including the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet. He is a champion for strong intellectual property rights and supports innovation.

In his remarks, Representative Jeffries spoke about the importance of trademarks. On legislation, he said, for it “to be sustainable, it has to also be bipartisan.”

INTA PAC looks forward to engaging all members of Congress as the current session comes to a close and the 117th Congress convenes in January.

Mr. Ziehl, Senior Vice President, Public Affairs and Strategic Initiatives at Warner Bros., spoke about the redesign of the Warner Bros. iconic WB shield logo last year to align with the company’s mission, vision, and values.

“Intellectual property powers our brand, and we believe in the power of the story to help define it,” he said.

He showed a WarnerMedia sizzle reel, featuring prominent marks across its broad portfolio, which drove that point home to a captivated audience.

INTA PAC appreciates all of the generous donations supporting the Committee’s work.
