Webcast Explores Mindfulness for Legal Professionals

INTA is offering a webcast on “mindfulness” to address an area of rising attention and concern among legal professionals during these times. The event follows a theme for the Association over recent months of providing support for INTA members facing challenges and pressure during the pandemic and in a changing profession.

An Introduction to Mindfulness for Legal Professionals,” held on March 9, is available on demand. It may be just what is needed to help you manage your busy and transformed schedule, work, and personal life.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines mindfulness as “the practice of maintaining a nonjudgmental state of heightened or complete awareness of one’s thoughts, emotions, or experiences on a moment-to-moment basis.”

Attendees will participate in a guided meditation and then gain tips for incorporating mindfulness into their daily lives, including insights on how a regular mindfulness practice can help improve key attorney skills such as negotiation, drafting, and time management.

The INTA TO-GO webcast is free and available to INTA members only.

The theme of mindfulness follows related INTA TO-GO webcasts held over the past 12 months. The on-demand offerings include “Learning to Cope During COVID-19,” led by Leanne Matlow, a cognitive behavioral therapy counselor. She addressed the challenges of living in quarantine and offered tips and best practices to build more resilience and improve mental health. And “Mental Health in Your Workplace: How to Be Part of the Solution” explored how improving the mental health of employees can improve thinking, decision-making, workflow, and relationships at home and at work. Both of these webcasts are free and available to INTA members only.

And more recently, “Unfold the Mystery of the Brain … and Empower Your Team in These Turbulent Times, for a Successful Return to the Office,” which recognized that we all have a different experience of the lockdown, but we certainly share one common denominator: we had to adapt, both our professional and personal lives, to find our “new normal.” What impact does this new normal have on you and your team? What challenges and lessons does it carry? What can behavioral neuroscience teach us to help us better integrate this new normal? This webcast is free and available to INTA members and non-members.
