Indian Attorney Wins International Trademark Association’s Membership Champion Award

Published: November 16, 2022

Miami, Florida—November 15, 2022—The International Trademark Association (INTA) honored Shailendra Bhandare, Partner at Khaitan & Co, based in Mumbai, India, as the recipient of its 2022 INTA Membership Champion Award.

This award is presented to one or more individuals who, during the year, help grow Association membership, increase awareness of INTA, and promote member benefits, demonstrating their combined passion for trademark and complementary intellectual property law and their commitment to the Association.

Mr. Bhandare has supported the growth of INTA’s corporate-facing and corporate-engaging activities in India. Since 2015, he has played—and continues to play—an active role in spearheading initiatives and creating and executing events specifically tailored for existing and potential corporate members in the country. Despite Mr. Bhandare’s outsized efforts, he is self-effacing, believing that the Association’s strength lies in unifying the membership through the pursuit of shared objectives.

“In reflecting on my journey from my first Annual Meeting to becoming a committee member for the first time, to the joy of becoming a committee chair, to my first Leadership Meeting, to feeling the sense of achievement being part of a team of stalwarts, I realize how positively INTA has been in shaping who I am today,” said Mr. Bhandare.

“INTA exists because of and for our membership,” said INTA President Zeeger Vink.
“And Mr. Bhandare is a perfect example of how one member can include, inform, and make our Association stronger and more effective for the global IP community.”

This year’s INTA awards were presented at the Association’s 2022 Leadership Meeting in Miami, Florida, which is taking place through November 18.
