International Trademark Association to Hold Workshop in New Delhi on Evolving Trends in Trademarks and Brand Protection
Published: August 7, 2019
New York, New York —August 7, 2019—The International Trademark Association (INTA) will be holding a workshop focused on trademark-related trends and opportunities in India on September 25 in New Delhi. The workshop, Made in India: Evolving Trends in Brand Protection, will cap off the Association’s first-ever Board of Directors meeting in the country.
The workshop is being held at a time of notable shifts in India’s trademark arena in recent years. They include implementation of a forward-looking national intellectual property rights (IPR) policy and the encouragement of innovation and creation at a countrywide level.
INTA’s full-day workshop will consist of four educational sessions that will bring attendees up to speed on these robust changes and explore emerging trademark protection and litigation trends in India, the need for a National IPR Centre, graphical representation in nontraditional marks, and the impact of artificial intelligence and blockchain on the practice of IP law.
“All eyes should be on India right now,” said INTA CEO Etienne Sanz de Acedo. “With India’s emergence as an innovation hub and its advancements in intellectual property, INTA is excited to bring the Board of Directors to the country for the first time and to end the visit with a workshop that will provide valuable insights into this evolving landscape.”
At the workshop, INTA President David Lossignol and Mr. Sanz de Acedo will provide remarks, and members of the Board will be in attendance. A networking reception will follow the day’s educational programming.
The 2019 India Workshop will take place at The Leela Palace, from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. To learn more and to register, visit www.inta.org/2019NewDelhi.
INTA’s India Workshop kicks off a busy period for INTA in Asia. Its 2019 Asia Conference: Brands in Changing Times will take place October 17‒18 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Then, in 2020, the Association will hold its 142nd Annual Meeting—the world’s largest trademark event—in Singapore April 25‒29, marking the second time INTA will be bringing its Annual Meeting to Asia and the first time to Southeast Asia.
