International Trademark Association’s Europe Conference to Focus on Legal and Political Changes, Technological Trends Impacting Brands

Published: December 11, 2018

New York, New York, December 11, 2018—The International Trademark Association (INTA) will hold its 2019 Europe Conference: Embracing Change, in Paris, France, from February 18 to 19, 2019, with a focus on the myriad issues brand owners and intellectual property (IP) professionals face against a constantly changing professional, political, and legal landscape in Europe and elsewhere.

Legal experts, brand representatives, and government officials speaking at the Europe Conference will provide attendees with perspectives and practical tips to navigate the changes afoot.

“Europe is undergoing dramatic changes that have impacted, and will continue to impact, consumers and brands worldwide,” said INTA CEO Etienne Sanz de Acedo. “INTA’s Europe Conference will help brand owners, IP practitioners, and business professionals face the future with the information and tools necessary to adapt and strategize in a rapidly evolving and unpredictable marketplace.”

Emphasizing the breadth of changes impacting brands, the Conference will tackle topics such as what brand owners need to know as they acclimate to a digital world, as well as to Brexit and the General Data Protection Regulation; the impact of copyright reform in Europe on creative works; and the increasing utilization of online influencers to promote brands and the legal implications of the brand- influencer relationship.

In addition, presenters will explore other shifts that will impact attendees’ professional lives, including the changing role of brand lawyers as they go beyond their initial specialty and address data privacy, marketing claims, corporate social responsibility, and other issues that can impact a brand;  the changing role of IP practices in light of artificial intelligence, blockchain, and other innovations; and the changing role of IP offices in the midst of evolving technology and the proliferation of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Early-bird registration prices are available until January 11, 2019.
