New York, NY, November  20, 2018—
The International Trademark Association (INTA) is pleased to announce that Bienvenido Marquez III, a partner at Quisumbing Torres, Taguig City, the Philippines, is a recipient of the 2018 Volunteer Service Award for the Advancement of the Association.

INTA presents the award annually to one or more individuals whose participation, efforts, and progressive thinking during the year have advanced the strategic objectives of INTA.

Mr. Marquez has been involved in various activities that support the Association’s 2018-2021 Strategic Plan, which focuses on promoting the value of trademarks and brands, reinforcing consumer trust, and embracing innovation and change.

He is currently a member of INTA’s Enforcement Committee, has participated in the Anticounterfeiting Committee, has spoken at educational programs, and has presented on the dangers of counterfeit goods to more than 300 students in the Philippines as part of INTA’s awareness-raising Unreal Campaign. In addition, he has helped to advocate for strong and harmonized enforcement best practices in the Philippines.

“Mr. Marquez is an ardent supporter of INTA’s mission and has made great strides toward advancing intellectual property rights in the Asia-Pacific region,” said INTA President Tish Berard. “Volunteer efforts like his help keep the Association moving forward.”

In receiving the award, Mr. Marquez said, “This award is a recognition of all of my efforts for INTA. When I started to attend the Annual Meetings in 2012, it was instilled in me by my mentors, that it is not enough to attend the meetings, but to get involved, participate, and make a difference. The result of that is already a reward in itself; being given this award is a bonus for which I am grateful.”

Mr. Marquez heads the Intellectual Practice Group and co-heads the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Industry Group at Quisumbing Torres, and earned a J.D. from Ateneo de Manila University School of Law, Makati City, the Philippines.

INTA presented the award to Mr. Marquez during the Association’s 2018 Leadership Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana in early November. INTA also presented the 2018 Volunteer Service Award for the Advancement of the Association to Rudy Gaines, Client Services Director at Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, Raleigh, North Carolina.
