The 2025 Presidential Task Force (PTF) Report examines how the intellectual property profession is evolving in response to broader business, organizational, and market transformation. Established by 2025 INTA President Elisabeth Stewart Bradley (Bristol Myers Squibb Company, USA), the PTF was charged with assessing the changing role of in- house trademark teams, the corresponding impact on external partners, and the implications for INTA as a global member organization.

The Report, entitled Change & Transformation: Exploring the Evolution of In-House Teams, the Impact on External Partners, and the Future Opportunities for INTA, draws on extensive collaboration across dedicated working groups, in addition to data from member surveys and interviews, and presents substantive findings and forward-looking recommendations that reflect the realities facing practitioners worldwide. It explores how shifting expectations, resource pressures, and new ways of working are reshaping professional relationships and service models, while identifying opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and value creation across the IP ecosystem.

Among its key findings, the Report reveals that 74 percent of In-House Practitioners surveyed said they now actively use AI tools and 77 percent of surveyed employers now have formal AI governance policies. Survey interviews showed that, “Efficiency has become as important as expertise,” within the industry.

The Report is intended to inform ongoing discussion within INTA regarding emerging challenges and opportunities, including the role of benchmarking and research, considerations around responsible technology and AI adoption, and the Association’s broader engagement and advocacy efforts.

Positioned as both a strategic resource and a catalyst for dialogue, this Report supports INTA’s commitment to delivering timely, meaningful insights that help its members navigate change and anticipate future challenges, and to strengthening the profession.
