David J. Kappos Partner, Cravath New York, New York, USA

In this repeat of an episode that originally aired on August 27, 2019, David J. Kappos has pretty much sat on all sides of the “IP table” over his career. Now a partner at Cravath, a law firm based in New York, he previously was Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office after serving as the chief intellectual property lawyer at IBM at the zenith of his 25-year career with the world’s largest patent holder. Dave’s unique career pathways—having  started as a development engineer—give  him a 360° vision of the interactions between IP and innovation, from patents to brands, so no doubt there is a lot to learn in this episode for all IP practitioners—and beyond.
