Women’s LeadershIP Initiative Leads INTA’s International Women’s Day Celebrations

Published: February 14, 2024

INTA’s Women’s LeadershIP Initiative (WLI) is planning an exciting lineup of events and programs in honor of International Women’s Day on March 8. The campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is “Inspire Inclusion.”

Throughout the month of March, the WLI will run a social media campaign around the #InspireInclusion theme. INTA members are invited to share testimonials about what it means to them to inspire inclusion, along with a photo of themselves making hand hearts (see here for examples). Please submit all entries to Member Operations by February 23. Entries should include the following:

  • A photo of yourself (or your group) making a hand heart;
  • Your name, title, company/affiliate organization;
  • Your Twitter, LinkedIn, and/or Instagram handle (or other social media handle); and
  • A short description (between 5 and 200 words) sharing your thoughts on what inspires inclusion and how that celebrates or signifies the spirit of International Women’s Day in 2024.

The WLI is also collaborating with the team behind INTA’s Brand & New podcast. Together they have launched the “Women Leaders Series.” It serves to celebrate the unique leadership qualities of women, including their collaborative and empathetic approach to success. It brings together women leaders in diverse roles, representing various organization types in the brands and IP ecosystem. These women are at the forefront of industry trends and how the conversation around the landscape for women leaders is being shaped today.

The inaugural episode premiered earlier this week. Entitled Advancing Athlete Rights, it is hosted by 2020 President and WLI Executive Champion Ayala Deutsch (NBA Properties, Inc., USA). Her guest is Malaika Underwood, CEO of Sandlot Technology Incorporated, an Assistant Coach for USA Baseball’s Women’s National Team, record holder for the longest tenured player (man or woman) on a USA Baseball National Team, and advocate and thought leader for amateur athletes and their name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights. In a far-reaching conversation, Ms. Underwood discusses the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in NCAA v. Alston concerning compensation for student-athletes and what it means for athletes and brands, shares her thoughts on the role of sports in advancing women leaders in the workplace, and discusses what it means to be a pioneer.

Finally, don’t miss the WLI’s 2024 Annual Meeting General Session, Moving Forward Together: Celebrating the Progress of Women as We Chart a Course for the Future, on Tuesday, May 21, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. In this fireside chat, leaders will reflect on workplace changes that have accelerated the advancement of women. Hear tips and takeaways on the expansion of opportunities for women from both a structural and societal point of view.

Every day is International Women’s Day at INTA, so, join us in supporting women in the IP industry. Let’s make this year’s celebration memorable!
