Overview
The International Trademark Association (INTA) Academic Committee’s Trademark Scholarship Symposium (TMSS) is INTA’s premier academic research forum, bringing together academics, practitioners, students, and researchers from around the world for small-group, workshop-style discussions of scholarly works in progress.

The program provides a unique opportunity to present original, unpublished research and receive constructive feedback from peers and experienced trademark practitioners—promoting the exchange of ideas and methodologies in trademark law and related disciplines.
Selected authors will present their work as part of the Academic Series at INTA’s 2026 Annual Meeting in London, offering a unique platform to share research, exchange feedback, and engage with INTA’s global community of academics and trademark practitioners.
Who should apply
Applications are encouraged from academics, practitioners, students, and other members of the INTA community.
Submissions may include scholarly articles or other research projects at any stage of development—from early-stage ideas to polished drafts.
Proposed topics may address any issue relevant to the INTA community, including trademark law and complementary areas of law.
Selection Process
Papers are selected through a competitive blind review process conducted by members of the INTA Academic Committee.
Submissions are evaluated based on:
- Originality
- Relevance to trademark and unfair competition law
- Contribution to the field
Selected authors will be paired with one or more designated reviewers with subject-matter expertise.
During the Symposium, reviewers will present comments on each paper, followed by discussion and questions from attendees.
