Panel 2: IP, Financing, and Growth for Polish SMEs and Scale‑Ups

This panel will examine how IP and intangible assets are treated in financing decisions affecting Polish SMEs and growing enterprises, including bank lending, investment, and public private funding mechanisms. With an economic structure dominated by microenterprises (accounting for 90% of firms), the discussion will address why IP is often underutilized in financing, how valuation gaps affect access to capital, and what role patents, software, data, and trade secrets can realistically play in growth funding. Despite the availability of legal protections and mechanisms for licensing and commercialization, attention will be given to practical constraints, limited awareness, institutional expectations, and emerging approaches to bridging the gap between innovation and finance.
