International Trademark Association to Recognize Future Leaders in the IP Field

Now Accepting Submissions for the INTA 2018 Tomorrow’s Leader Award

New York, New York—July 2, 2018—The International Trademark Association (INTA) will recognize two outstanding young practitioners for their early career achievements in the intellectual property (IP) field with the Tomorrow’s Leader Award. The Association is accepting applications from young practitioners through August 15, 2018, and will officially recognize the award recipients at its 2018 Leadership Meeting in November.

To be eligible, young practitioners must be employed by an INTA member organization in good standing and have up to five years of experience in trademark law. They must not have previously attended one of INTA’s Annual or Leadership Meetings. 

Award winners will receive benefits designed to strengthen their professional and personal development, including being assigned a mentor, becoming an INTA committee member, and obtaining complimentary registration for INTA’s 2018 Leadership Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the 2019 Annual Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts next May. 

“The IP field and the role of IP professionals are continuing to evolve rapidly, especially as technology brings about new challenges in IP protection,” said INTA CEO Etienne Sanz de Acedo. “Through our Tomorrow’s Leader Award, we hope to recognize practitioners who are currently embracing these changes and show the potential to guide our industry in the future.”

INTA introduced the Tomorrow’s Leader Award in 2017 and plans to grant the award annually. Having the distinction of being the first recipients of this honor are Ana Leticia Allevato, an attorney-at-law at Di Blasi, Parente & Associados, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Erica B.E. Rogers, an attorney at Ward and Smith, P.A. in Raleigh, North Carolina.

“To be chosen as one of the two recipients of the INTA’s 2017 Tomorrow Leader Award has not only demonstrated to me that I have been following a good career path, but it is now helping me to continue down that road,” said Ms. Allevato. “Indeed, the award provided me the opportunity to learn best practices to protect trademark rights with top practitioners from all around the world, as well as develop new relationships to expand my network of colleagues.”
