Published: November 15, 2021
New York, New York—November 15, 2021—The International Trademark Association (INTA) is pleased to announce that Pedro de Abreu M. Campos, attorney at law at Di Blasi, Parente & Associados, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a recipient of the Association’s 2021 Tomorrow’s Leader Award.
The global association of brand owners and trademark professionals presents this award annually to outstanding professionals who have been practicing trademark law for five years or less to inspire the next generation of intellectual property (IP) professionals and to help accelerate the development of the recipients within the Association and the global trademark community.
Mr. Campos has been practicing law for two years, concentrating on IP law, regulatory law, and compliance. His experience involves litigation on copyright, trademarks, and patents.
In his brief tenure as an attorney, he has already made a mark on the IP community in Brazil. His pro bono work has included helping to protect the trademark of nonprofit organization, Fight for Peace, which combines boxing and martial arts with education and personal development to assist young people in reaching their potential.
He has published books and articles related to the IP community, including on topics such as copyright, geographical indications, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, amendments to Internet and copyright laws, and more. His book on Pharmaceutical Patent Litigation was nominated for two awards and cited by the Federal Court of Rio de Janeiro to ground judicial decisions.
Mr. Campos said he “couldn’t believe it” when he received the news about INTA’s Tomorrow’s Leader Award.
“It is a great honor to get the chance to engage and to learn with so many people from dozens of different nationalities at a very young age,” said Mr. Campos. “I believe this award is a turning point in my career, because at the same time it makes me proud for achieving what I have done so far, it also makes me feel very humble and passionate about working hard to become a leader and to get involved with INTA’s community.”
In congratulating Mr. Campos, INTA President Tiki Dare noted: “We are so impressed with Mr. Campos’ accomplishments at his firm and in the community. He serves as a role model for others and is well on the path toward becoming an all-star IP practitioner.”
As an award winner, Mr. Campos can serve on an INTA committee and receives complimentary registration to INTA’s 2021 Annual Meeting Virtual+ and INTA’s 2022 Annual Meeting.
Mr. Campos graduated from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV DIREITORIO – Rio de Janeiro Law School) in Rio de Janeiro with an Undergraduate at Law. He also attended Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Canada as an international student, and is currently a Master’s Degree Candidate at PUC-Rio.
Ms. Dare announced the Tomorrow’s Leader Award winners in a video announcement on the opening day of INTA’s 2021 Annual Meeting Virtual+, which is taking place through November 19. The other 2021 recipients are Giulia Maienza of Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, Milan, Italy; and Agnese Gerharde of COBALT, Riga, Latvia. Throughout the Meeting, Ms. Dare will also announce the winners of the INTA Service Awards and the President’s Award.
