International Trademark Association to Hold Education Sessions in Mandarin at Upcoming Annual Meeting

Published: July 9, 2020

New York, New York—July 9, 2020—The International Trademark Association’s (INTA) 2020 Annual Meeting & Leadership Meeting, which takes place virtually from November 16-20, will feature a track of dynamic educational sessions conducted entirely in Mandarin. Registration for the Meeting opens on July 13.

The 2020 Annual Meeting & Leadership Meeting marks two noteworthy firsts for INTA: the first-ever combined Annual Meeting and Leadership Meeting, and the first large-scale, all-virtual event. It includes live, simulive, and on-demand educational sessions, an array of networking opportunities, and an interactive Exhibit Hall.

INTA is offering tracks for the first time this year to help guide registrants toward sessions that fit their specific needs and interests. The Mandarin-language track—one of 12—will take place on November 18 in the China/Singapore time zone (GMT+8:00).

The Mandarin-language sessions will focus on some of the most relevant topics in the world of intellectual property (IP) today, including the development of China’s digitization such as big data and artificial intelligence, the identification of trademark infringement in parallel imports, new trends in IP rights enforcement, and a one-year lookback at the country’s new trademark law. The program will include senior leaders in government or industry who will share their insights and experiences on timely topics.

In addition, INTA will also offer Mandarin-language networking opportunities, including Table Topics, which are moderated discussions among small groups of registrants on timely IP topics. And, on November 19, the Meeting includes live educational sessions in English in the China/Singapore time zone.

“The educational and networking opportunities in Mandarin emphasize our desire to bring this Meeting to a different level. This event is all about innovation and flexibility,” said INTA CEO Etienne Sanz de Acedo.

He noted that the virtual platform will allow stakeholders in Asia and other parts of the world “to fully take advantage of all we’re offering at their own pace, when it fits their schedules and time zone.”

INTA has significantly reduced the registration fee, compared to an in-person event, and is offering special pricing packages for multiple registrants from the same organization. Early-bird registration is open through August 21.
