INTA Accepting Nominations for Award Recognizing Outstanding Young Practitioners
Published: July 2, 2020
New York, New York – July 2, 2020 —The International Trademark Association (INTA) is now accepting applications for its 2020 Tomorrow’s Leader Award, which recognizes two outstanding young practitioners for their early career achievements in the intellectual property (IP) field.
Young practitioners from around the world can apply for the award through August 3. They must be employed by an INTA member organization in good standing, have five or fewer years of experience in trademark law, and not have previously attended an INTA Annual Meeting or Leadership Meeting.
The Association introduced the Tomorrow’s Leader Award in 2017 and presents it annually to strengthen both professional and personal development for the recipients and raise their visibility as future leaders within the trademark community.
INTA will officially announce the winners at its 2020 Annual Meeting & Leadership Meeting, which is being held virtually in November.
The winners will receive an INTA mentor, a spot on one of the Association’s committees, recognition on various media channels, and complimentary registration for the 2020 Annual Meeting & Leadership Meeting and the 2021 Annual Meeting in San Diego, California.
“The very nature of the intellectual property field is that it requires constant evolution and the introduction of new ideas. The Tomorrow’s Leader Award is our way of celebrating this evolution,” said INTA CEO Etienne Sanz de Acedo. “We look forward to championing the work of two young stars in the industry and helping them continue to grow into dynamic leaders.”
The 2019 award recipients are Sher Hann Chua of Tilleke & Gibbins, Bangkok, Thailand, and Suzannah Wood of King & Wood Mallesons LLP, Melbourne, Australia.
“This award both serves as a foundational milestone to look back on and an exciting opportunity from which to launch forward,” Ms. Chua noted.
Ms. Wood said she had expected that attending one of INTA’s major meetings would be years away, but she instead got the opportunity much sooner by winning the award. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from international experts in my field, strengthen my network of overseas associates, and continue to build a career as a trademark specialist,” she said.
